Acoustic
I started building acoustic guitars in 1994 as part of my design school thesis project. I focused on shapes and materials used in the construction of a guitar in an effort to improve sound, comfort and aesthetics. For my thesis project I ended up making several prototype bodies from fiberglass and ceramics. I was able to get a decent parabolic shape with the fiberglass, but when I started showing guitar around, most people wanted a wood guitar. I was working in a CNC shop at the time and was able to use the CNC's on the weekends to work on refining my designs. After about 3 years of refinement, I felt ready to go full time in the summer of 2000.
